'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 2' Opening Scene

'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 2' Opening Scene

When Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 2 hits theaters on July 15, it'll be the culmination of 10 years of filmmaking magic. With seven (out of a total eight films) already in the can, the series has grossed more than $2 billion in the US alone, has made international sensations of its three young stars (Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint), and has set its final chapter up to be the moviegoing event of the year and perhaps even the decade.

Part 1, which bowed in theaters in November 2010, ended with the chilling image of Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) raising the Elder Wand (that'd be the most powerful wand in the world) to the sky as thunder and lightning crash. The cliffhanger ending certainly left an abundance of questions floating in the ether: Will Harry (Radcliffe) and his friends be able to combat such darkness? Will Harry Potter prove that that he is, indeed, "the boy who lived"? Or will he be asked to make the ultimate sacrifice?

All of those will be answered on July 15, with a final chapter that includes the all-out Battle of Hogwarts, Ron (Grint) and Hermione's (Watson) eagerly anticipated first kiss, the deaths of many beloved characters and the long-awaited final showdown between Harry and the vile Voldemort.

Luckily for fans who can't wait for July, a featurette from the newly released Deathly Hallows -- Part 1 DVD has hit the Internet, revealing a sneak peek at Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 2, including a look at the opening scene. Watch it below:

In the clip, Harry Potter and wand master Mr. Ollivander (John Hurt) discuss the Deathly Hallows (three items that, if possessed by the same person, make that individual "the master of death") and Voldemort's quest to obtain them. The scene concludes with Ollivander delivering this ominous warning to Harry: "He's after you, Mr. Potter. If it's true what you say and he has the Elder Wand, I'm afraid you really don't stand a chance." Never one to back down from a challenge, Harry responds, "I suppose I'll have to kill him before he finds me then." In other words, it's on.
